Finally, we can breathe.
On this day of Tuesday, the 20th of
April 2021, the 12 member jury has found the former police officer Derek
Chauvin guilty of murder over the death of African-American George Floyd on a Minneapolis
street last year on 25 May 2020.
Chauvin was found guilty on all three
charges: second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter.
US President Joe Biden and
Vice-President Kamala Harris called the Floyd family after the verdict.
In nationally televised remarks shortly
afterwards, Mr Biden said: 'Systemic racism is a
stain on the whole nation's soul.'
Video filmed by bystanders showed
Chauvin's knee pressed into Mr Floyd's neck and back
for almost nine minutes as he gasped for breath.
Transcripts of the minutes leading up to
George Floyd’s death reveal he told officers “I can’t breathe” more than 20
times, only to have his plea dismissed by Derek Chauvin
'We can't let these words die with
Floyd' - said President Biden.
Let us keep Martin Luther King Jr's immortal alert message high :
'Injustice anywhere is threat to justice everywhere'.
We in Voice For
Justice, felt that Justice has been served and done for George Floyd.
It is a response to the systemic and
institutional racism that endangers peace and harmony of our greater human
family on this beautiful planet.
Let this verdict be a lesson to racists,
everywhere in the world, for all times to come.
